INPAK s.r.l. was founded in Imola in 1976 as a mechanical engineering company that produced machines used for creating packaging for the produce market. During the years that followed, the company strengthened its presence on the market. As production increased, so did the number of technical personnel.

SACMI Imola acquired INPAK s.r.l. in 1986. The combination of knowledge and experience with automatic machines led to the development of technologies allowing INPAK s.r.l. to enter the industrial sector.

INPAK changed its name to SACMI PACKAGING in 2001, expanding its business to include palletizing and end of the line solutions for packaging. The company’s classification changed from s.r.l. (limited liability company) to joint-stock company in 2004.

SACMI PACKAGING S.p.A. then acquired the company, SMI in 2012. SMI worked in the machine forming sector for many years. The two companies combined field knowledge of the sector resulted in the creation of the new products for increasing machine flexibility, allowing the company to meet market demands all over the world.

In 2013, one year after the acquisition, the company reexamined the production range for the produce market and constructed the new TF40 Imola, GD25 and TF70 high-performance forming machine.
